De Ultrasone draagbare hardheidsmeter werkt op basis van “UCI (ultrasone contact impedantie) technologie” voor het meten van de hardheid van een breed scala van metalen op platte, ronde, dunne en grote oppervlakken. In tegenstelling tot de standaard hardheidsmeters, kan deze "state-of-the-art" draagbare hardheidsmeter wel op zeer dunne en kleine werkstukken worden toegepast. Met de niet-destructieve functie, kunnen ook zeer gevoelige eindproducten in de productieomgeving worden getest. Door de niet-destructieve (NDT) kenmerken van deze hardheidstester kunnen onderdelen worden getest testen zonder dat fysieke of structurele schade, die normaliter zou leiden tot onbruikbaarheid, op het product achterblijft.
